1. My dog amused me all night by putting her head – and only her head – under the covers. I kept waking up, snorting with laughter, and then falling back asleep. My dog makes me laugh. I am so damned lucky.
2. I have my consultation today. I will probably have a plan in place for ‘what’s next?’ within the next 3 – 4 hours. I love having a plan.
3. Bagels & lox. (You know, I’m starting to believe that I’ve been wasting my life by NOT being a baker or a chef. So many of these bits of joy I’ve been recording are food-related – have I misspent my life? Seriously.)
4. A clear, windy day where it’s beginning to feel like spring. I went into the backyard yesterday and noticed that the tulips and scilla and crocuses and daffs that I planted last year are starting to come up. I’m thinking this fall I’m going to plant the entire postage-stamp yard in bulbs so that next spring is just a riot of color. I love spring flowers and they’re almost here.
5. I bought a good, wide-based teapot that cost more than a teapot should ever cost. It’s enameled steel, its base is wide enough to cover the burners on our industrial stove so I can turn up the gas and water boils quickly, and the handle stays cool. My teapot makes me happy every time I use it. Plus, it’s a bright, apple-green. The world – or at least my kitchen – needs more bright apple-green kitchen fixtures.
Yay for teapots… and tea! Every spring I think the same thing, I need more of this! Daffodils, crocus, scilla… sigh.
I hope you’re consultation goes well.
